Dr. Faraz Harsini is a biomedical and food system scientist, founder of Allied Scholars for Animal Protection (ASAP), and Senior Scientist at the Good Food Institute (GFI). An immigrant and first-generation college student, he holds advanced degrees in chemical engineering, biotechnology, and molecular bio-physics. Dr. Harsini advocates for animal rights and food system transfor-mation aligned with principles of nonviolence and compassion. Through ASAP, he mentors students to become leaders in animal protection. At GFI, he devel-ops scalable scientific methods for alternative proteins. He has received nu-merous awards, lectured at top U.S. universities, and worked in biopharma-ceuticals on treatments for COVID-19, cancer, and more. He collaborates with groups like PCRM to promote alternatives to animal testing and links food sys-tems to broader justice issues.
