Speech Title: JAIN WAY TO DEVELOP RESILIENT MIND, BODY & SPIRIT
Speech Time: 60 Minutes
Description: THE JAIN WAY TO DEVELOP A RESILIENT MIND, BODY AND SPIRIT:
Develop a new resilience. Treat the person as a whole. Is this something new? Not in most ancient cultures, they accepted that there was a deep connection between mind, body and spirit and recognized that each of these comprised part of the whole. Now, through integrative medicine, we are realizing that our health is influenced not only by the physical body but the spiritual, mental and emotional bodies too. The environment, different behaviors and cultural factors contribute to our physical health. The physical body is affected by our emotions, our thoughts direct how we feel, and our energy levels sway our mind and our thoughts. Carefully tending to yourself as a whole can open up new energy channels. These clear networks create a spiritually connected, mentally stimulated, emotionally centered, vibrant person. Strengthening each of these components will help us find a meaningful, blissful life.

Speech Title: VISION OF REAL HAPPINESS
Speech Time: 30 Minutes
Description: “There can be different perspectives of viewing the same person or element or situation.” This “Anekantvad” is one of the most precious assets given to the Universe by Jainism. Example: Pundit Indrabhuti was explained by Prabhu Mahavir that Aatma(Soul) exists using Ved-Shastras and then he became disciple of Prabhu Mahavir. This Anekantvad is as relevant as it was many years ago. In our family and professional life, using Anekantvad we can tolerate, forgive, accept and respect one another. With Blessing of Paramatma , let’s see how we can have vision of “REAL HAPPINESS”.

She received her MA in 2018 and graduated with her BA magna cum laude from the Macaulay Honors College in 2009. Her research interests include death and dying, end of life issues, and biopolitcs, and her doctoral dissertation is on ethics and agency in the modern practice of sallekhana/santhara, the Jain fast until death. Her work has been funded by the Wenner-Gren Foundation and the American Institute of Indian Studies.
Speech Title: Contemporary shifts: Sallekhana and Jain society
Speech Time: 30 Minutes
Description: Final abstract and title to be provided by the end of February 2021. I have not determined the final topic or title of the talk I will give, but it will be based on my fieldwork on sallekhana/santhara. The most likely topic will be changes in the contemporary practice of the fast over the past 20 years (sallekhana in the 21st century): a sort of anthropological-sociological survey discussing variation in sectarian practice, the pan-Jain defense of the practice in the face of its legal challenge, rise in media coverage and public forums discussing the fast, and general shifts in social attitudes, awareness of the practice, and its perception and popularity in different generations.

Speech Title: Jainism & Cancel Culture
Speech Time: 45 min
Description: A free and democratic society is one which promotes open dialogue and civic debate. We are taught to “speak truth to power,” and we hold up as models those in power who speak the truth. But what does our Jain faith demand of us when it comes to holding one another accountable for our thoughts, words and deeds? How do we build a culture of reconciliation and redemption? It begins with a reckoning. Jainism envision a cosmic balance sheet, for sure. But perhaps we have a responsibility to expedite the path to justice in this life.

Special focus is given to the Thanksgiving Meals and Fasting Event that will be hosted by JAINA on the 400th Thanksgiving in November 2021 as one particular way to educate the general public about the adoption of an alternative, non-violent diet.

Speech Time: 45-50 minutes(as allowed)
Description: Complete Health involves Physical, Mental, Social and Spiritual health. Body-mind-soul are interconnected. The world within us affects physical body through Nervous and Endocrinal system. We will deal with several useful aspects and golden keys to attain complete health. In fact સ્વ સ્થ – means one who stays in pure self or Atman. At gross or physical level – science of Diet, Fasting, Unodari, Aymbil will be mentioned. But main emphasis would be on Inner ( Mental, emotional, spiritual) aspects as to how our inner world functions? How incorrect understanding leads to clashes , disadjustments , Aarta,Raudra Dhyan ,Kashyas or karmic bonda. And how correct understanding or right vision will lead to happy, harmonious living with Dharmdhyan and even way to Samyak Drashti. As Incorrect understanding or wrong belief is at root of all mis happenings , correct understanding or Right belief will lead to resolution, complete health and way to liberation . Many such keys will be shared .
